Biodata

Playing soccer is what I like to engage myself in during my free time. Through this sport, I discovered the importance of teamwork, discipline and determination. Furthermore, playing soccer also taught me the importance of focus.

On top of my curriculum, I am also active in activities outside classrooms. I believe that one can also learn by participating in activities other than academic work. By taking part in such activities, I picked up skills in management and communication.

Furthermore, I will do a reflection on my daily activities at the end of the day. This is to ensure that I learn from mistakes and not repeat them again.

The Team i'm in.

Dear Binglin,

I am impressed that you reflect on your activities everyday. There is an ancient Chinese saying by one of Confucius' disciple, Zeng Zi(曾子):
"吾日三省吾身:为人谋而不忠乎?与朋友交而不信乎?传不习乎?"

It means to self-reflect several times a day on three areas - whether one has done his/her best in his/her job; whether one has been sincere with his/her friends; whether one has revised teachings from his/her teacher.

I believe that it is difficult to keep up with this practice after a hectic day and thus I am impressed!

However, I feel that 'change' is part and parcel of self-reflection. To be able to reflect and learn from mistakes would also mean to change the bad habits one has. Furthermore, action speaks louder than words and action is more convincing to prove that one has learnt from his/her mistakes.

Nevertheless, I hope to learn from you and reflect on my daily activities too! Well done!

Dear Jia Yi,

I thank you for your comments made and including the quote from Zeng Zi. It is a wonderful quote.

It is indeed very difficult to keep up with this after a long and hectic day. Thus, I make use of my time on buses and trains to do it.

I do agree with you that change is part and parcel of self reflection. To change for the better is what I am trying to do after self reflection sessions.

It is rather beneficial for you to do a self reflection after activities each day. Maybe you would want to try it out?

Hi Binglin,

I enjoy playing soccer too. I agree that teamwork is an important lesson learnt when playing soccer. The success of winning a soccer match greatly depends the cooperative efforts by the entire team.

Reflection is indeed important because it helps one to gain a better understanding of relatively complicated or unstructured issues. Moreover, reflection on my daily activities supports one's learning and improves self-awarness. Sometimes, I also do reflection to seek self-improvement.

Dear Binglin,

Your post is rather intriguing as it is quite different from others that I've read. Most people talk about what they like to do, their hobbies and things like this. However, you drafted your biodata such that it helps the readers to understand you much better.

When you mentioned participating in activities other than academic work, what are they?

Interesting read with deeper insights than many other biodatas. Good post!

Dear Barry,

I do agree that it is rather useful for one to reflect upon one's actions. Maybe you would want to try it out on a daily basis? Of course it may be a bit tiring to try this out everyday. However, it will be beneficial.

Dear Yuyin,

Thanks for the encouragement! Anyway, the "other activities" i'm referring to are any events that are outside academic work, examples include CCAs, volunteering work or just taking part in a recreational sport!

Dear Binglin,

I am too, impressed by the daily reflections that you do on your daily activities. It takes self-discipline and much determination to stick to such a routine. Keep it up!

I agree with you on the benefits of co-curriculum activities. There are so much to learn outside the textbooks which we will need when we enter the workforce. In doing so, we also discover more about ourselves as we get exposed to the vast possibilities of life.

Dear Pei Yu,

I agree with you on the point that there are more to books and academic work. I am sure that you have learnt more during your sailing expeditions.

Maybe you would like to try to do your reflections? It only takes a few minutes of your evening! =)

Dear Binglin,

This is the first time I am reading your blog. I have never tried to find your link before. And I am not making comment for the sake of the e portfolio.

Your post is interesting. Hope you enjoy the module and learnt many useful techniques as well.

I am also interested in playing soccer. What team is that? Is that a hall team? If possible we could make a match. I also have a team with some of my friends. We can play a friendly if we can find a time. Can contact me if you are interested. HP 97368686
